La Mirada, CA- After destroying the Orange County Riptide 14-8 to start their three-game series, the Southern California Catch got a taste of their own medicine as the Tide tied the series with a 7-4 victory. Three runs in the bottom of the third were enough to keep the Tide ahead of the Catch, bumping Southern California down to a 14-15 conference record.

Right out of the gate, Orange County took a one-run lead over starting pitcher Jake Lochner (Missouri State University) in the bottom of the first. Discipline at the plate gave the Catch a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second from a pair of bases loaded walks. However, their lead was short lived and was the only lead they held over Orange County in the middle game of the series.

No sooner had the Catch taken a one-run lead over the Tide when Orange County took it away with a game-tying RBI single in the bottom of the second. One inning later, the Riptide regained their lead over Southern California, scoring three runs from a triple and back-to-back doubles. Their lead held fast as both designated hitter Caleb Potter (West Virginia University) and shortstop Austin Bull (Grand Canyon University) drove in a pair of runs from RBI singles.

With the series tied and their chance for a playoff spot 2.5 games away, the Catch play the Riptide one last time on Thursday, July 21 at 4:30 p.m.
