Sloppy Game Results in Big Loss

Garrett Osterode -- SID

La Mirada, Calif. –The So Cal Catch played one of their worst games of the season on Saturday night and it resulted in a disappointing 13-3 loss. The Long Beach Legends came out hot and we could not stop them.

The pitching staff top to bottom struggled today. Hayden Jorgenson (Azusa Pacific) started for the Catch and suffered his shortest start of the season, lasting only three innings. The bullpen, with the exception of Hunter McIntosh (Grandview) who through very well, could not hold down the Legends either. The Catch pitches walked seven batters and allowed 17 hits. This poor pitching performance allowed for 13 runs to come across for the opposition.

The Catch hitters didn’t do much to help the cause either. So Cal only collected three hits off Legends starter Scott Savage. The Catch did score two runs in the final two innings but it was too little, much too late.

It wasn’t all bad on the offensive side as Jonathon Ducoff (Houston Baptist) collected a two hit night, as did CCL All-Star Steven Garrett (Azusa Pacific). Those two en have been two of the most consistent hitters in the entire lineup.

Injury Report:

Grant Robbins (UNLV) left Saturdays game with an apparent finger injury as he was trying to steal a base. Robbins was taken to the hospital after the game and we are waiting to hear back on what the doctors say.
