Losing Streak Hits Five Games

Garrett Osterode -- SID

Compton, Calif. – The So Cal Catch dropped their fifth straight game, extending their season high, Tuesday night as the Academy Barons took game one of the season by the final score of 7-4. TheCatch dug themselves another big hole they could not climb out of.

Hayden Jorgenson(Azusa Pacific) was on the hill for the Catch coming off his best start of the season. Jorgenson pitched fairly well and fairly effective, becoming only the third Catch pitcher to record an out in the sixth inning. Though it was a solid start, the wheels came off the tracks in the sixth inning. Hayden allowed three runs in that decisive sixth inning, all with two outs.

The Catch bats again had a fairly dismal day at the plate, recording only six hits in total and only two through the first five innings. The Cath over aggressiveness at the plate worked against them Tuesday night as they cut down on strikeouts but made things very easy for the Barons starter.

Shay Whitcomb (UCSD) was very impressive yet again on Tuesday. The “young pup” was 2-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Shay has been the Catch’s’ top hitter during this losing streak and providing all he can to try and secure a win.

The Catch will get another chance to face the Barons as they welcome them to Biola University on Wednesday night. The Catch undoubtedly will have a chip on their heading into this one.

Looking Ahead:

Zac Whittaker will get the ball for So Cal on Wednesday night and will get the opportunity to halt this losing streak, one that started the last time he pitched.
