Pitcher’s Duel Ends in Saints Favor

Pasadena, Calif. – The So Cal Catch extended their season high seven game losing streak on Thursday night. Despite the best efforts from the Catch starting pitcher, So Cal drops this one 4-1.

Chris Vargas (UC Irvine), coming off an outing in which he gave up five runs in four innings, pitched beautifully and gave the Catch a great chance to win Thursday night. Chris went six strong innings, allowed one solitary run while striking out three batters. Chris battled all night long and left a lot of runners on base when he needed to.

Giving the Catch the boost on offense was third baseman Mitchell Bumann (Hawaii Pacific). Mitch went 2-4 on Thursday including a massive homerun over the deep wall in left field. Bumann continues to be one of the Catch’s most consistent bats and defenders and has really emerged as a staple in this lineup. So Cal will need a lot more of the same from Bumann if they want to break out from this losing streak.

Bailey Martin (Miami) will get the ball next to try and halt this losing streak. As this losing streak begins to dawn on the Catch and their fans it is time to put together a complete game full of pitching, defense and offense. The Catch surely are not out of the race, this team just needs a little momentum and then it’s off to the races.

The Catch head back to Pasadena for one more game before traveling to San Louis Obispo for their yearly trip. Hopefully one that will allow them to get a couple wins on the board.
