Slim Lead Falls Through the Crack

Pasadena, Calif. – The So Cal Catch extended their season high eight game losing streak on Thursday night. Despite the best efforts from the Catch starting pitcher, So Cal drops this one 10-5.

Bailey Martin delivered an outstanding start for the Catch surrendering only one earned run in five strong innings. This was Bailey’s best start since June 7th against the Orange County Surf when he went six innings and struck out eight. Martin commanded the strike zone with authority walking only one batter through his four innings.

The brakes fell off the wheels in the sixth inning for the Catch when Joey Hanley, Hunter McIntosh and Tyler Hazlett were called into pitch. The Catch gave up seven total runs in the inning, solidifying the win for Arroyo Seco. Bryan Smith was the catalyst in the inning, catapulting the Saints by way of grand slam off McIntosh.

Propelling the Catch offense was a well-oiled machine made up of 10 hits including two apiece for from Omar Ortiz and Anthony Seminaris. Each of them had RBIs in the loss and provided enough offense for Martin’s liking, but it just couldn’t hold on.

The Catch head to San Luis Obispo for a three-game series against the Blues. Tayt Smith will get the start for the Catch in hopes to break the losing ways. Tayt is 1-1 in his three starts so far, this season.
