Slump Continues Against the Barons

La Mirada, Calif. – The So Cal Catch extended their season high six game losing streak on Wednesday night. The long ball was prevalent against Catch pitching once again as they drop this one to the Academy Barons 8-4.

Zac Whittaker (Fresno City) got the start for the Catch coming off his best start of the season. Wednesday night did not garner the same results. Zac surrendered five runs in only a four and two-thirds innings pitched. The long ball downed Zac, all five runs were given up on two hits, both of which cleared the wall.

So Cal’s bats picked up a little bit tonight, collecting 11 hits. Evan Sandmann (Dallas Baptist) led the charge going three for four at the plate including a double and two RBIs. Grant Robbins (UNLV) and Steven Garrett (Azusa Pacific) also picked up multi-hit games for the Catch.

The Catch pitchers did a wonderful job inducing the swing and miss, recording a total of 15 strikeouts. Whittaker had six strikeouts while relievers Matthew Wade(SEMO) had five out of the pen and Tucker Thomason (Freson City) had four. Strikeouts were not the issue, if the Catch could limit the big hits, they would be in a good position.

The Catch now head to the road for a season high six game road trip. They head to Pasadena for two games before the yearly San Louis Obispo trip this weekend.
