La Mirada, Calif. – The So Cal Catch welcomed the Conejo Oaks to Biola University on Thursday night for the first time in 2017, and this matchup did not disappoint what so ever. The Catch won in walk off fashion by the final score of 5-4.

Bailey Marti received the start for So Cal and from the start he looked to have his good stuff working. Martin allowed the leadoff batter in every inning to get on base, but worked his way through it for the first three innings. It wasn’t until the fourth and fifth innings when Martin surrendered all four of the Oaks runs. Bailey finished his afternoon with five innings pitched, four runs allowed and five strikeouts.

The Catch bullpen allowed the team to mount a comeback. When Martin was pulled the score was 4-2, but thanks to Conner Davis (Pitt State), Tyler Hazlett (Hawaii Pacific), and Steven Garrett (Azusa Pacific) the Oaks did not score a single run and the Catch were able to creep back.

The Catch’s offensive charge was led by Grant Robbins (UNLV). Grant was 3-3 on Thursday including a two-run homerun and a double. Grant also scored the ever-important tying run in the seventh inning. Evan Sandman (Dallas Baptist) also recorded a two-hit game.

The biggest moment in this game came in the ninth inning with the game knotted up at 4, and Omar Ortiz at the plate. With no one on base and a fastball on the way Omar connected with his second home run in as many days. It was the first walk off victory for the Catch, and surely the most satisfying victory of the season.

Games like these always seem to give a team momentum and the Catch hope to use that momentum going into this weekend series with Long Beach. The Catch have not won three games in a row all season long and will attempt to do so on Friday.
